When creating a PowerPoint presentation to accompany your sermon please only use the prescribed Living Faith Template which will help ensure you comply with the Living Faith presentation standards and to ensure your content is as visible as possible on our streaming and front of house displays.

Download our PowerPoint template here. (Last Update: 23/11/2023)

Important

  • Make all text clear and legible.
    • The colours can be seen in the top row of the drop down box (such as the one used when changing the colour of your text)
  • If using images:
    • Use royalty free images. Good sources include unsplash.com, pexels.com or you can filter Flickr by royalty free images
    • If you must use other images, acknowledge the owner by putting “Credit: source” below the image. Eg: (Credit: NY Times).
    • Use bright images without too much white
    • Use high contrast images [i.e. those with very clear and crisp colours]

Below is an example of what a correctly formatted slide should look like (using the “Scripture Slide” template).

Note in particular the appearance of the colour(s) and font(s).

FAQs

Please provide a copy of the PowerPoint to the LF Office (by USB or emailing: powerpoint@livingfaith.com.au) the PowerPoint file by Close of Business (5:00 PM) on the Wednesday before you present your sermon so that it can be reviewed and loaded onto the computer.

After you have opened the template you will find that the PowerPoint has been set up so that you can pick and choose what type of slide you want to create.

There are 5 main types of slide master templates:

  • A title slide – for the title of your message
  • A photo slide – for inserting any images you want to display
  • A scripture slide – for displaying passages of scripture
  • Key point slide – for emphasising your main points
  • And body/dot point slides – for breaking down your main points throughout your sermon

Only use Century Gothic within the template.

Your background will always be black and most of your text will be white.

If you wish to use colour to emphasise a point or highlight a word, there is a row of colours listed as “theme colours” (the top row) when you select the drop down arrow to change the font colour. These are the only colours approved for use on the PowerPoint template.

Spread the scripture over multiple slides (maximum 6 lines per slide) but try to break the scripture at logical points (i.e. verse breaks, sentences and other natural pauses).

Also make sure to include the reference at the top of EVERY scripture slide. You may choose whether you use a general reference (e.g. Romans 8:1-39) for the whole passage (on every scripture slide) or a specific reference for each verse on a slide (e.g. Romans 8:1 Romans 8:2, etc)

It may also be helpful to know about duplicating slides.

You can duplicate a slide by selecting it in the left hand panel and pressing ‘control + d’ or right clicking and selecting duplicate. This allows you to type the reference once and duplicate it for the number of slides you need.

Expand photos evenly (i.e. do not stretch the image to make it taller or wider in one direction only) to take up as much of the white box as you can.

Firstly you must make sure that any image you choose can be displayed on our live stream without breaching copyright laws.

Images should be high quality and contain an appropriate level of brightness and contrast.

High quality images are available by clicking on “large” in the image search if using Google.

Contrast is extremely important because the images will display differently on the projector compared to your computer screen.

If the image is clear, crisp and you can see detail at a large size then you will be fine to use it. If not, try to find a different image.

Unfortunately the display software we have is not capable of translating animations properly to both our stream overlay and projector screens. This means that you are not able to use animations in your slide show.

If you wish to have a slide build over multiple lines (e.g. 4 dot points appearing one at a time) you can simply create 4 copies of the slide and add one dot point at a time to each slide in order (1, then 2, then 3 etc). This will give the illusion of animating/building.
